Know-It-Owl Survey Takeaways

Individuals choose to stay at the workplace or leave the workplace for a number of reasons. Do you know if your workforce is exhausted or energized? Are you accomplishing all that you are capable of in a five-day workweek? Have you adjusted your budgets as the economy has changed? Explore key findings we've retrieved as part of the survey Owler conducted with the valuable input of our community.

Employees are Feeling Burnt Out

With an unpredictable past few years, it is no surprise that workers are feeling the sting of exhaustion. When surveyed, 72% of respondents shared that they intend to remain at their place of employment over the next year. While this should serve as an encouraging number for employers, it is worth noting that 57% of respondents stated they felt a medium to a high level of burnout. In terms of combatting burnout, only 6% of respondents would choose therapy. 57% of employees prefer to take time off to avoid burnout, and 25% choose to get more sleep as a solution.

Knowing the signs of exhaustion could help address this problem early rather than allowing it to develop into job dissatisfaction and increase over time. A National Library of Medicine study found that participants displayed predictors of emotional stress by way of their pay and rewards satisfaction, work climate, advancement opportunities, and the degree of psychological and physical manifestations of occupational stress. Employers will want to monitor these levels of burnout and inquire with employees about the contributing factors involved to find a way to mitigate this issue.

Work-Life Balance is an Important Topic Among Employees

Work-life balance is at the center of several conversations as employees strive to reach a healthy amount of balance between their day jobs and personal time. 34% of survey respondents said they worked remotely. When it comes to the distribution of time, 59% felt confident that their job duties could be accomplished within a 4-day workweek. Employers might want to consider the positive impact changes like a shortened workweek or remote-friendly work environment could have on employees who find it challenging to strike a healthy work-life balance. With many companies returning to a physical office daily or on a hybrid basis, 87% of respondents reported meeting their coworkers in person.

Employees are Aware of the Effects the Economy has on Their Workplace

Employees have witnessed the changes enacted by their workplaces because of a changing economy. 34% saw their employers enact hiring freezes or reduce budgets as a safety measure to prepare companies for economic uncertainty. Economic changes have impacted 44% of respondents’ workplaces, while 46% of respondents say their company has taken cost-cutting measures.

The importance of being in touch with your workforce and ensuring they have an understanding of where your company stands in the context of an evolving economic landscape cannot be underestimated. The confidence and satisfaction of each team member can influence whether or not individuals decide to stay or leave their roles. You want to be in a position where you can anticipate what may be on the horizon in terms of your business while also being able to lead and ensure your workforce that you are invested in their well-being and how integral that is to the health of your business.

Just as important as knowing what is happening within your business, it's essential that you have a pulse on the status of other companies that possess sales potential.
