Why Owler Is a Powerful Sales Enablement & Content Marketing Tool: Marketron
By: Beth Osborne, Senior Content Marketing Manager, Marketron
Owler made its mark on the world with its unique approach to monitoring company activities and delivering hard-to-find data. There are so many opportunities for businesses to use Owler for a variety of pursuits. The reason I use it and recommend it is somewhat unique but well within the confines of the tool’s value.
I’m happy to share why I think Owler is powerful sales enablement and content marketing tool!
We’re Sales Enablers and Want to Share the Best Resources with Our Customers
As the senior content marketing manager for Marketron, I develop content that delivers strategies, tips, and ideas to an audience of salespeople.
Marketron offers products and services for broadcast and media sales teams that allow them to propose, price, and execute multimedia advertising campaigns. Our platforms empower sales teams to maximize revenue with functionality that streamlines processes and makes them more efficient.
When your audience is sales professionals, the content you serve up to them must be tactical and practical. Otherwise, there’s nothing in it for them. Most content I develop is educational and relevant. It’s not a sales pitch.
One of our biggest initiatives as a company is to empower salespeople to improve every phase of the sales cycle. A lot of that has to do with prospecting and research. We hosted a very successful webinar called Research Rocks! How to Use Cool Tools for Selling Smarter in 2021. With its live debut and subsequent on-demand availability show, we’ve had thousands of salespeople interact with the content.
In it, we introduce tools for sales professionals to use to make prospecting easier, and one of those we highlight is Owler!
We recommend it as a key resource to qualify prospects. We encourage our sales audience to use it to flesh out the viability of a target. In the case of our customers, their customers are typically local companies that advertise across mediums. Many of our users offer radio or TV spots in addition to digital advertising tactics.
We explained to them in the webinar as well as other prospecting blog posts on our Aspire site, our sales enablement content property, that Owler has some great features to do this, including:
Determining the demographics of a business, such as size, revenue, employee count, and other factors that would make it either a good or poor prospect.
Finding competitors to current clients that might also be a good fit for what they offer.
Keeping up with businesses on their prospect list with Owler’s news feed functionality.
Gathering other sales intelligence that will help sellers position their pitch to best capture that new business.
Feedback from our audience on Owler and its capabilities has been incredibly positive. Many were unaware of the platform and were instead using more expensive alternatives. They appreciate how user-friendly it is. They can start with a free version to evaluate it out then commit to a subscription, which is very affordable.
For any salesperson looking to improve their prospecting process, Owler will make a difference in their productivity and success.
Owler Is Also a Great Asset for Content Marketing
Beyond our endorsement of Owler as a great prospecting tool, I also use it for content marketing ideation. Content marketers can all understand that coming up with new topics for their content calendar can be challenging. We have to use lots of tools and tactics to stay connected to trends and what audiences want.
Owler helps me do that in a few ways. First, I can monitor the content our competitors are publishing. These may spark ideas and different angles I can take in future content.
Second, it allows me to track trends relevant to our audience with the newsfeed. I can track specific content types in real-time. I find it to be much more useful than Google Alerts. The platform offers ways to filter to quickly find the stories that impact the broadcast and media industry.
My favorite type is looking for press releases or blogs that include industry research or reports. Those can fuel ideas and allow me to develop an impactful story driven by data.
Owler Is a Must-Have Tool for Sales and Marketing
Owler can serve several purposes for organizations. It’s a prospecting tool, a competitive intelligence resource, and a content marketing ideation option. If you haven’t tried it, start today and explore all the possibilities!
